Who we are

EFGB is a non-profit organization that aims to provide francophone families in the Boston area affordable high quality educational options for children. Our goal is to share our passion for French language and francophone cultures with the greater Boston community by offering programs and events that bring together and celebrate the diverse nature of the francophone and francophile community.

Based on the French National Education guidelines and enhanced by multiple educational approaches and learning principles, our programs are designed to:

  • enable our students to build a strong academic foundation and the bases of true bilingualism;

  • foster the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of our students;

  • promote creativity, self-discipline, independence, active learning, and positive reinforcement;

  • celebrate francophone cultures and share our love for the French language

EFGB is a Bilingual (French / English) school (Toddler to 5th grade) with three campuses located in Watertown and Cambridge (2 locations).

Our school aims to reinforces a child’s sense of belonging to a community and helps him/her build a truly bilingual identity. Our multicultural student body and staff is unique and provides a diverse and fun environment to work in.

Our school has a team based approach where teachers are mutually supportive and collaborate closely in developing and executing curriculum planning, social studies, Mathematics, Arts and Crafts and/or project based learning. The school offers our children high quality programming based on requirements and standards set by the French National Education guidelines and enhanced by Early Education Curriculum (EEC) programming. Our lessons are designed to promote the physical, intellectual and emotional development and well-being of each child. Students will acquire knowledge and skills while developing reasoning and critical thinking abilities.

Job Summary

We are seeking an EEC certified Director I or II with prior experience teaching preschoolers. You may be ready for the next step up as an Early Childhood Director or interested in a unique smaller setting that combines administration with some classroom teaching. Speaking French is absolutely not required as our team is a mix of anglophone and francophone staff.

Here at Efgb French School, teachers work in teams to create quality environments for children. Our Mission is to promote a positive learning environment and personalized approach that sets the stage for extraordinary learning experiences. Classroom teams create developmentally appropriate lesson plans following the french standards.

Our new Director will be in charge of our Summer Camp program during the summer.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide administrative leadership and management of the preschool program of 37 children that is consistent with EEC licensing regulations and EFGB curriculum and policies

  • Provide direct teaching for 12 hours a week in an extended day enrichment program and English classes;

  • Oversee Summer Camp program for preschoolers and develop curriculum activities to engage children and support learning

  • Supervise, support and guide teachers in the development and implementation of appropriate curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities;

  • Provide staff support in positive guidance for children in accordance with outlined guidelines;

  • Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff;

  • Guide teachers in measuring progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements;

  • Create and maintain records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events in accordance with EEC licensing guidelines and program policies;

  • Identify staff and own learning needs; plan professional development opportunities that support ongoing growth;

  • Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all staff and children in the classrooms and on the school campus.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Early Childhood Education or a related field;

  • EEC Director I or II certificate;

  • At least 2 years of teaching experience with preschoolers;

  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills;

  • Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families, staff and children;

  • Experience developing and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and practices;

  • Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving;

  • Proven ability to maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment;

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum;

    Applicant must be a positive hand on team player, enjoy being outdoors, and able to multi-task. The candidate should conduct oneself professionally and provide quality teaching and nurturing care to children (21 months to 6 years old) enrolled in the program.
