PROGRAM ASSISTANT FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE PROGRAMS, Office of Minority Education (OME), to assist with planning, organizing, and implementing the Interphase EDGE/x Program (summer and academic-year enrichment program), Talented Scholars Resource Room (TSR^2), and other relevant OME programs. Responsibilities will include creating and maintaining program participant trackers related to attendance, demographics, academic outcomes, etc., and assisting with tracking students who submit petitions to the Committee on Academic Performance; assisting with logistics for the Albert G. Hill Prize; coordinating logistics for events and workshops; assisting with logistics and processing of Interphase EDGE/x and TSR^2 applications; assisting with the maintenance of program information systems (aka CRM) and paper and electronic documentation; corresponding with program participants about program activities, deliverables, etc., through various platforms (email, Facebook, Slack, Discord, etc.); assisting with the development of print/electronic publications, including developing and disseminating marketing and publicity materials; assisting with relevant website updates/maintenance and with the maintenance/upkeep of virtual platforms used by Interphase EDGE/x (MITx, Canvas, Gradescope, MIT Wiki, etc.); maintaining the academic program calendars of events; maintaining/updating confidential database(s) of student records; arranging individual meetings between participants and the academic program coordinator and deans; and providing additional support as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least two years’ professional work experience in higher education or related area; experience with general student advising and coordinating academic excellence programs for undergraduate students, particularly underrepresented minority students; advanced-level computer skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro, etc.; and ability to maneuver supply/resource cart weighted at 30 lbs. PREFERRED: B.S./B.A. in a math/science field, education, student affairs/advising, or a related area; and knowledge of MIT and OME. Job #19321-4

Salary range: $18.00 - 24.00/hr.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule and occasional weekends. 2/19/21
