12-month term renewable position contingent on funding and work performance

35 hr per week Mon- Fri.

Department:HMS NeurobiologyPre-Employment Screening:Identity Job Function:Research Duties & Responsibilities:Our laboratory seeks to understand interactions between the immune and nervous systems in the context of disease. We use a variety of in vivo and in vitro approaches including mouse genetic, molecular, biochemical, cell biology, and imaging, techniques. We are looking for a laboratory technician to assist with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to basic molecular and cell biology experiments (plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, cloning, tissue culture, histology, etc.), preparing solutions and stocks, and laboratory apparatus maintenance. Additional duties of the technician will include mouse colony maintenance, generating neural and microglial cultures, microscopy and carrying out cellular assays for microglial function. This person will spend 90% of his/her time to work on a scientific project, and 10% of the time for lab maintenance. The person will get a great training in research, both scientific thinking, and experimental designs and skills.
