Additional Qualifications:BS degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical science or related discipline preferred.- Prior experience in a research laboratory (i.e beyond undergrad coursework) is required.
Prior experience in microbiology and molecular biology laboratory techniques. Key skills include genetic manipulation of E.coli such as DNA transformation, plasmid extraction, PCR and cloning. Experience with next-generation sequencing (illumine MiSeq) and sequence analysis tools (such as Geneious), as well as familiarity with computational tools (such as R or python), will be viewed highly favorably.

Familiarity with experimental design and data analysis.

This is a full-time hands-on research position working as a member of a dynamic team that includes graduate students and postdocs. The candidate, under supervision, will perform PCR and analyze results, Will support design and perform cloning of plasmids and strains, Will prepare samples and perform next-generation sequencing. Will perform sequence analysis. The candidate will be responsible for genetic manipulations of E. coli: Perform plating and culturing, and perform transformation and extraction of DNA. The position involves the utilization of microbiology techniques along with the development of new experimental methods, so understanding of underlying fundamental principles is required.
