Bachelor's Degree in relevant field and at least 1 year of related work experience. Relevant coursework may count toward experience.
Candidates must have significant knowledge of, and interest in, current international security issues; exceptional writing skills; basic quantitative proficiency; and a demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision under tight deadlines.
A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, though we will consider candidates who have a bachelor’s degree with extraordinary academic or professional credentials.
Demonstrated knowledge of various research methods and statistical techniques.
Candidates with a research background in history, nuclear weapons, China, or Middle East politics are encouraged to apply, although experience with these topics is not a requirement.

The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is seeking candidates for 3 Research Assistant positions. The Belfer Center is the hub for Harvard University’s research, teaching, and training in international security affairs. In 2018, it was ranked the world’s #1 university-affiliated think-tank for the fifth year in a row.
Research Assistants support Graham Allison, the Douglas Dillon Professor of Government at the Harvard Kennedy School, in conducting in-depth research on topics such as US foreign policy and strategy; China; defense and intelligence policy; global nuclear security and nonproliferation; and a range of other major international security issues.
The Research Assistants work closely with other members of a small research team and play a key role in developing research products, including policy memos, op-eds, journal articles, and book chapters, and perform related job duties as required.
