Job Function:Research Job-Specific Responsibilities:The Haigis lab has an opening for a highly motivated and organized lab and administrative assistant with a bachelor's degree to support various functions for the principal investigator and the lab. The position consists of three main areas: providing direct administrative support to the lab’s principal investigator, purchasing, and lab safety.
The candidate will provide direct administrative support to the lab’s principal investigator, which includes assisting with travel arrangements and reimbursements. In addition, the candidate will assist the PI with training grant compilation and progress reports. The candidate may assist with coordinating special seminars, events, and meeting schedules.
The candidate will be responsible for purchasing and electronically receiving research materials, supplies and lab equipment/instruments using Harvard’s internal HCOM- purchasing system. Will handle invoices and preparing purchase requisitions for the finance department and will maintain a weekly overview of lab expenses for budget purposes.
The candidate will serve as the lab’s safety representative, which includes overseeing compliance with safety-related protocols and guidelines and managing the lab’s safety roster in PeopleSoft and in Harvard’s Assessment & Inspection Management System (AIMS) to ensure safety training is administered and completed in a timely manner. The candidate will work closely with EH&S (Harvard’s Environmental Health and Safety office) and update the lab chemical inventory online, post updated door placards, and assist lab members with creating SOPs (safety-operating-procedures).
