Two or more years of related work experience required. Higher education may count towards experience. Previous experience should include plasmid construction, growth of microbes, familiarity with DNA viewing software and fundamentals of protein expression. Quantitative skills are required.Additional Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in synthetic biology is very helpful. Presentation and communication skills, including slide presentations and written reports are also important.Additional Information:This is a grant-funded position for one year with the possibility of renewal.Department:Wyss InstitutePre-Employment Screening:Identity Schedule:Monday through Friday, 9am - 5pmJob Function:Research Duties & Responsibilities:The employee will construct expression plasmids, perform transient and stable transfections into bacterial and mammalian cells, perform immunofluorescence staining, store data, and analyze data. The employee will also maintain an organized collection of plasmids, mammalian cell lines, and data collection protocols suitable for transfer to others including outside agencies. The employee will present data at group meetings, assist in writing papers and monthly reports to funding agencies. The employee will attend in seminar series within the Wyss Institute and HMS and take part in the scientific and intellectual life of the lab, the Wyss Institute, and Harvard Medical School.
