The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University invites applications for a Research Assistant position in the Bioinspired Therapeutics and Devices platform. The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering is seeking a motivated individual to fill a research position in microbiology. The candidate will be part of a multidiscipline team working on developing state of the art vaccines against pathogens designed to address unmet medical needs. The position includes developing processes involving the capture, detection, and quantification of pathogens from samples. The candidate will be responsible for the microbial culture, and assay of samples for both vaccine production and testing of efficacy (including body fluids, exudates, or surgical specimens). In addition, the project will involve microorganism-based assay development as part of vaccine production and efficacy testing. The person filling this position will have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of additional experimental techniques, including molecular biology, protein characterization, and microscopy.
