Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, biomedical engineering, or related field with at least 2 years of direct cell culture or related experience required. Education may count toward years of experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

Experience with in vitro analytical techniques to assess the cell viability of tissue constructs. Experience with microfluidics. Experience working with induced pluripotent stem cells. Willingness to work outside of his/her discipline to accomplish project goals. Excellent molecular biology skills. Experience with flow cytometry, ELISAs, PCR, and microscopy. Proven ability to draft and implement lab protocols. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. Strong work ethic, communication skills, and goal-oriented personality.

This is a one year term position with the possibility of renewal.

Job Function:Research Job-Specific Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Principal Investigator in the Lewis Research Group with technical guidance from the bioprinting research team, the Research Assistant III will organize and coordinate cell culturing techniques and related lab tasks among Lewis Lab members. With minimal supervision and in collaboration with Lewis lab members, the candidate will help design and execute molecular biology experiments, including any necessary microscopy and cell assay analyses. These responsibilities will require developing and validating experimental protocols; organizing and assisting in collaborative efforts; training new lab members and carrying out routine laboratory maintenance and procedures. The candidate will also participate in presentation and publication arising from the group’s work. In addition, general laboratory responsibilities are required, such as maintaining budgets, equipment, supplies, inventory, and reporting laboratory results.
