Some programming tasks, such as simulations, are expected. Department:Health Care PolicyPre-Employment Screening:Identity Schedule:35 hrs. per week / 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM / Monday - FridayJob Function:Research Duties & Responsibilities:The Research Assistant III will provide research support and help coordinate daily operations for a series of methodological projects that share the objective of developing and illustrating novel methodology for estimating the comparative effectiveness and safety of medical technologies in the context of \"big data\". The project areas include: Bayesian approaches to causal estimation when there are no unmeasured confounders but measured confounders modify treatment effectiveness; Bayesian approaches to causal estimation when unmeasured confounders modify treatment effectiveness; approaches to missing data in large, growing coordinated registries; and approaches to estimation of medical device effectiveness in the presence of substantial learning curve effects. The research assistant will report to the Principal Investigator (PI) but will interact with individual project investigators. The critical work of this position is to provide research assistance, including: conducting literature reviews, collecting, organizing and analyzing data (conducting simulation studies and applying new methodology to project datasets), summarizing and communicating vital information, drafting reports, summaries and manuscripts, preparing presentation slides, assisting in the development of grant proposals & progress reports, and data use applications. Priorities will be determined by a combination of deadlines, PI needs, and project needs. The research assistant will interact regularly with the project team members to review outcomes, the status of project deliverables and milestones, open science reporting, and dissemination, and stakeholder engagement. This person will communicate events, impact, challenges, and delays to the PI.
