What you'll need:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience or related field. Advanced education may count towards years of experience.
3 or more years of experience with cell culture and with molecular and cellular biology techniques such as ELISA, western blots, Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), or related experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Advanced degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience or related field preferred.
Industry experience a plus.
Previous experience and ability to operate independently.
Experience with development, optimization and routine performance of ELISAs is strongly preferred.
Previous knowledge and/or experience with rodent handling and tissue preparation is a plus.
Ability to work well independently and to collaborate with a multidisciplinary group.
Should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and able to take initiative.
Proficient with personal computers and applicable software packages (Microsoft Office).

What you’ll do:
Contribute significantly to efforts in novel drug and diagnostic delivery across the BBB.
Develop, validate and perform various protocols including cell-based assays, plate-based ELISA assays, western blots, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry.
Mouse tissue and blood preparation for pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic studies (PKPD).
Analyze and interpret experimental data, learn new skills, troubleshoot, and contribute intellectually to the project.
Order supplies, perform support activities and lab maintenance, and function in a team-oriented environment with other scientists and staff at the Institute as well as external collaborators.
Present data and conclusions at meetings within the Wyss Institute.

Reporting to the Senior Staff Scientist, you will work with a multidisciplinary team as part of our Bioinspired Therapeutics and Diagnostics platform. This team synergizes the strength of both in vitro cellular systems (Transwell and Human BBB Chip) and in vivo humanized transgenic mouse models for compound discovery and validation.
