SENIOR ACQUISITIONS EDITOR FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE, MIT Press, will strategically acquire and develop textbooks and professional books on significant topics in computer science, statistics, robotics, and the physical sciences, as determined by signing goals. Will manage a pipeline of projects and work with authors and peer reviewers to develop the highest quality manuscripts for instructors, students, and professionals; actively oversee a backlist of projects and serve as the primary point of contact with authors; establish robust relationships with MIT faculty members and wider networks of advisors and prospective authors, with a focus on high-impact textbooks as well as professional works; and will promote the growth and continued success of this industry leading, legacy MITP portfolio.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of book acquisitions experience in computer science or a related field or nine years of experience total; solid track record of book acquisitions, including textbooks in computer science or a related field; excellent written and verbal communication, and negotiation skills; knowledge of publishing contracts and terms and higher education community; and ability to work with academic authors and deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion. PREFERRED: Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field; and knowledge of LaTeX. Job #24616-8
