  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, as well as strong time management and organizational skills, to meet deadlines

  • Problem solving and analytical skills, independent initiative, excellent judgment, and ability to keep information confidential.

  • Proficiency with office productivity and collaboration software, as well as business applications, a must.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting using near vision use for reading and computer use for extended periods of time

  • Lifting (approximately 20 to 30 pounds), bending, and other physical exertion

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work nights/weekends and travel as needed.

  • This position will be based in Cambridge, MA.

  • Work is typically performed in an office setting, but may be hybrid (on-site and remote), as directed by FAS. Any approved remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, and VT).

Position Description:

  • Design and implement training for alumni interviewers and Schools and Scholarship (S&S) Committee chairs; research and identify best practices for volunteer engagement with college applicants.

  • Lead annual recruitment efforts to identify alumni volunteers to interview applicants to Harvard College.

  • Monitor S&S Committee activities and facilitate office feedback on interviewing (e.g., individuals, processes).

  • Recruit, train, and assign interviews for the virtual S&S Committee that supplements the work of geographic-based clubs.

  • Assist with preparation and administration of departmental alumni meeting and training budget.

  • Manage at least one entry-level staff member of the Admissions Alumni/ae team.

Admissions Responsibilities:

  • Read and evaluate admissions applications from assigned geographical regions.¿Apply discretion and independent judgment in deciding which qualified students should be presented to the committee for possible admission.

  • Provide information about Harvard College and its admissions process through information sessions or other events on campus or on-line. Travel may be undertaken independently or as joint travel with other institutions.

  • Handle communications with prospective students, applicants, parents, secondary school administrators, and the public.

  • Conduct interviews of prospective and current applicants.

  • Develop and nurture relationships with alumni/ae interviewers.

  • May chair an admissions subcommittee and/or serve as a liaison to an athletics team.
