  • Bachelor’s degree or completion of relevant AV Technical Certification required

  • Customer service experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ related experience with digital and audio-visual equipment in a corporate or educations setting.

  • Experience operating both Mac and Windows operating systems

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, particularly during the academic year

Department:Computer ResourcesPre-Employment Screening:Identity Job Function:Communications, General Administration, Information Technology, TechnicalJob-Specific Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Deploy and operate AV equipment as needed in small and large classes, meetings, and other event settings.

  • Develop documentation and train and support GSD Community (Instructors, Teaching Assistants, students, staff, and outside contractors) who will mostly operate the AV equipment in a self-serve mode at GSD.

  • Plan, implement, maintain, and operate built-in DSP-based AV technologies in classrooms and meeting spaces.

  • Co-manage and operate Piper Auditorium’s advanced ‘broadcast booth’ technology & AV systems, together with the school’s public programs technical coordinator.

  • Troubleshoot AV technology and related issues; manage/perform repairs as indicated and coordinate with outside contractors as needed.

  • Collaborate with GSD and Harvard staff (Computer Resources , User Services, Building Services, Web, Communications, Harvard HUIT Network, & Harvard AV staff) as needed.

  • Be proficient in the use of personal computers (both Windows and Apple) and presentation and collaboration software such as Zoom, Teams, PowerPoint & Keynote etc.)

  • Stay abreast of trends in AV technology and teaching; engage in annual planning, budgeting, and technology refresh.

  • Attend conferences, committee meetings, continuing education, etc. to develop & maintain current knowledge.

  • Complete work orders, communicate by email & messaging, resolve tickets, and perform tasks in a timely fashion.

  • Provide friendly & effective customer service to faculty, staff and students.

  • Support other activities and perform other duties as directed by the Manager of User Services.

  • Collaborate with the school’s public programs technical coordinator as needed, to address special needs and projects as they arise.

    Please note: May be required to provide support at events outside of normal work hours, from time to time (3-4 per semester). May include evening and weekend hours. Job Summary: Overall responsible for excellence in all aspects of digital Audio/Visual technology provision and performance at the GSD , including image, sound, and video content, and live, recorded, and streamed presentations. Primarily responsible for AV in GSD academic and administrative settings.
