Job Description
SENIOR PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR, GRADUATE STUDENT EXPERIENCE, Office of Graduate Education (OGE), to manage programs that support graduate student co-curricular activities, community, and well-being. Will collaborate with OGE partner offices in the administration of MIT’s programs for visiting students and graduate student orientation and onboarding. Responsibilities include managing and overseeing the twelve-month Graduate Community Fellows program involving approximately thirty graduate student workers and fifteen to twenty staff supervisors; managing the Graduate Student Experience Grants program which awards OGE funds to support graduate student-led activities; collaborating with OGE partner offices on the administration of MIT’s programs for visiting students and graduate student orientation and onboarding; serving as an Institute resource for the Graduate Student Council; and serving as an informational resource for off-campus graduate students navigating life in the Cambridge area.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least three years of direct/related experience; strong written and oral communication skills; self-motivation; ability to interact collaboratively and effectively with students, faculty, and administrators at a research institution; strong administrative, project/program management, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate across all levels of the organization; knowledge of cross-cultural and bias issues and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations; ability to listen carefully and communicate tactfully; and experience with databases and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Drupal (or an equivalent web application). PREFERRED: master’s degree; work experience with emphasis on program coordination, assessment, higher education administration, academic advising, or related field; at least two years’ project or program administration experience in a higher education setting; and supervisory experience.
