SENIOR PROGRAM ASSISTANT, MEDIA ARTS AND SCIENCES (MAS), Media Laboratory-Program in Media Arts and Sciences (MAS), to coordinate graduate academic administrative matters for the Program in Media Arts and Sciences, and manage undergraduate engagement with the lab and program. Will serve as the primary resource to students regarding the academic program, degree requirements, and educational policies/procedures. MAS has a graduate student community of approximately 200 graduate students and 26 faculty. Responsibilities include managing administrative aspects of the graduate admissions process, e.g., answering questions, providing GradApply support, assigning applications, facilitating admissions committee meeting, tracking/analyzing data, etc.; onboarding new students; tracking students’ progress through the program; collaborating on organizing/facilitating doctoral cohort meetings; advising students on academic and administrative concerns; event planning; managing master’s and participating in creation of new Ph.D. student database; researching, proposing, and implementing systems/processes to increase efficiency and accuracy of student services; creating and maintaining visiting student appointments; managing Undergraduate Research Opportunity (UROP) appointments; interacting with Institute central administrative and academic departments; web maintenance; managing thesis submission process and course offerings and enrollment, including scheduling classes, updating course catalogue, maintaining records, monitoring online grading, etc.; and managing purchasing, financial forms, creating trip reports, verifying credit card charges, and reconciling accounts.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: at least five years’ related experience, with at least three in academic administration; ability to work with students, faculty, and staff in a highly diverse environment; ability to balance multiple tasks, enhance and streamline processes, and work effectively under pressure of deadlines in an environment with a high volume of work; meticulous attention to detail; and excellent organizational, customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience with MITSIS and WebSIS highly desired. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Job #17098-62/7/19
