Background in the fields of federal health policy (e.g., ACA, Medicaid and Medicare), public health and health law;
Background or demonstrated interest in issues related to health equity, racial justice, the social determinants of health;

The ability to work well independently and as part of a team; and,
Exceptional research and analytical skills, and a strong ability to convey information orally and in writing.
This is a one year term appointment with potential for renewal subject to funding and departmental need.

As a Staff Attorney, you will:
Serve as lead attorney on a portfolio of projects that focus on using law and policy to enable the healthcare system to effectively promote access to high-quality health care and respond to the social determinants of health, with an emphasis on working toward racial justice and equity goals;
Collaborate with and mentor students on cases and projects, assisting them with a broad range of lawyering skills, including: problem-solving, law and policy analysis, research and writing, oral communication, cultivating community partnerships, and leadership;
Track federal health policy developments and analyze the potential impact on access to health care and the social determinant interventions;
Provide training, technical assistance, and other supports to community partners and coalitions to promote policy development and implementation at the federal, state and local level;
Create and distribute written analyses, factsheets, presentations, and other multi-media publications for key partners and the public, including publications for dissemination as part of CHLPI’s Health Law Lab project ; and,
Maintain CHLPI as a trusted source of information, analyses, and resources among affected communities, CHLPI partners, and key government officials.

The staff attorney will help to lead the Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation’s (CHLPI) efforts to expand access to high-quality healthcare, to reduce health disparities, to address the social determinants of health, and to promote more equitable and effective health and public health systems. To meet these goals, the staff attorney will work with diverse stakeholders, including consumers, advocates, community-based organizations, health and social services professionals, government officials and others, as well as with CHLPI’s clinical staff and students.
This position represents a unique opportunity to work within Harvard Law School’s clinical program, to join a dynamic public interest and clinical teaching health and public health law and policy program, and practice in growing areas of state and national importance.
