Tax: The Tax Administration Division is responsible for fostering voluntary compliance and narrowing the tax gap by identifying, educating, and auditing noncompliant taxpayers. The Tax Administration Division audits the tax returns of businesses and individuals filed, including sales/use, meals, rooms occupancy and special fuels, are subject to examination by the Tax Administration Division staff. Job Description:The position is required to perform all or some of the following duties and responsibilities based on job assignment with an emphasis on being the Bureau’s representative to the Business Liaison Group (BLG). * Provides the highest level of professional service * Represents DOR in direct public dealings * Answers telephone inquiries * Resolves written inquiries; affects account transactions * Provides technical assistance by interpreting and explaining state tax laws, rules, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures; Provides technical assistance to co-workers * Reviews and resolves work queue tasks by making accurate adjustments * Maintains a proficient knowledge of GeniSys, MassTaxConnect and other systems; participates in special projects and work groups as requested * Performs related tasks as requested * Performs on-the-job training to employees] * Provides direct supervision of the Bureau’s seasonal tax examiners or processing staff, if necessary * Develops and provides training programs to staff * Contact Center employees have limited flextime and predominantly provide phone support to the taxpayers of the Commonwealth In addition, the selected candidate will be the designated BLG Representative for Trustee Tax and the Bureau’s primary contact and representative to the Department’s Business Liaison Group (BLG). * This position involves working with bureau personnel to determine technology needs and work with the BLG and Genisys project team to develop solutions to issues that arise and challenge our ability to perform key functions. * The selected candidate will meet with Trustee Tax staff to assist with the requirements of SQR’s to be submitted to the project team and work with the project team as a liaison during the build to ensure the desired outcome. * This position will lead the testing of proposed developed solutions and coordinate selection of other subject experts to assist with testing. _Preferred Qualifications: _ * Prior experience performing system testing and documenting results. * Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize time sensitive assignment in a fast-paced environment. * Applicants must have excellent oral and written communications skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills. * Have strong knowledge and experience with all Trustee Tax types, including PFML and HIRD. * The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated record of success in team settings. * The preferred candidate must exercise sound judgement, handle confidential information. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least: * Four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in accounting, auditing, or tax examining work, of which * At least one year must have been in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity, or * Any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: * A bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, or business management may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.* * A Graduate degree with a major in accounting, business administration, or business management may be substituted for a maximum of three years of the required experience.* Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
