Job Description

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Engineering (Bioenergy & Bioproducts)

Competitive salary commensurate with relevant experience.

The postdoctoral fellow will be working with Prof. Emma Brace on projects involving bioprocessing (biofuels and bioproducts), biorefinery design, and techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA). Background and expertise in bioseparations, bioprocessing, process design, or TEA and/or LCA is desired. Candidates with experience in bioseparations and bioprocessing lab work and/or computer modeling work including molecular modeling, process design, TEA, or LCA would be well-suited to this position. Collaborative opportunities to work with other faculty at Boston College may also be available if there is interest.

Prof. Brace’s research group will have a particular focus on developing novel processes for making bioproducts, through a unit operations approach (lab-scale experiments and molecular modeling) and a systems scale approach (biorefinery design, TEA, LCA). You may also read more about Prof. Brace’s research group’s work on http://brace-lab.com.

While the fellow will spend most of their time conducting research and working on manuscripts, there will be many opportunities to mentor and work with undergraduate research assistants. There may also be opportunities for teaching and grant writing, if interest and opportunities align.
