Job Description

The Folker Lab in the Biology Department at Boston College has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow. The primary project involves investigating the relationships between nuclei, the cytoskeleton, and disease in developing skeletal muscle using Drosophila as a model organism. The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following: microscopy, image analysis, the cytoskeleton, Drosophila genetics, or muscle development. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct her/his experiments, and intellectually contribute to all ongoing projects in the lab by discussions with graduate students, undergraduates, and the PI. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to mentor undergraduate students who will help with the completion of this project.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biology or related field

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Motivation and ability to work independently

  • Experience with Drosophila is not required
