Job Description

Senior Research Associate

The Connell School of Nursing at Boston College seeks a Senior Research Associate to join a team working on managing a large implementation project related to midwifery and doula education and support called the Birthworker Equity in Education (BEE) Collaborative. Work will be focused on managing the implementation and monitoring of three key aims of the project: growing the workforce pipeline, supporting the current workforce, and coordinating with community health centers in Boston as important training sites for newly trained midwives and doulas. The main responsibilities will be to assist on the following major activities.

Oversee activities related to growing new workforce

  • Assist in overseeing and monitoring all training activities for midwives, midwifery faculty, doulas, doula trainers, and lactation counselors

  • Implement interviews with midwives to inform project goals and outcomes

  • Coordinate the teams and support staff that implement workshops and develop training activities

  • Coordinate faculty members within and outside of nursing who are working on various aspects of the workforce development activities

  • Assist in writing up project reports and other project materials related to growing new workforce

Oversee activities related to strengthening the current workforce

  • Coordinate faculty members within and outside of nursing who are working on various aspects of the strengthening the current workforce

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of educational material for midwives working in the community

  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to create a local hub for networking/community building including retreats, dinners, and speakers

  • Coordinate with relevant members inside nursing school to support current midwives pursuing additional schooling

  • Assist in writing up project reports and other project materials related to strengthening the current workforce

Oversee activities with community

  • Work with faculty and staff within nursing and staff at a local community health center on several activities that support additional activities to improve prenatal and postnatal care

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Work with faculty and staff within nursing to develop and monitor key indicators related to implementation of all activities related with the BEE Collaborative

The successful applicant will work with a team within the CSON and other Boston College entities (School of Social Work). The successful applicant should have management experience managing teams working on different activities at the same time. The successful applicant will work with and manage a part time coordinator on all activities. The successful candidate for this position will have previous technical experience implementing and managing health care projects, be knowledgeable about the health care system in Massachusetts and knowledge of recent midwifery regulations and have demonstrated experience with monitoring and evaluation.

Competitive salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with 10+ years of experience in health systems, public health, health economics, public finance, or related field. Research Associate level requires at least five years of prior research experience.

  • Demonstrated ability working on implementation projects and ability work independently in the design, conduct, monitoring and analysis of interventions

  • Experience in finding, processing, and analyzing data

  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills in English

  • Ability to conduct literature searches and produce reviews

  • Experience managing projects and supervising junior staff

  • Strong commitment to health equity and motivation for independent learning
