Senior Library Associate Department: Chicopee Public Library Employment Status: UFCW Admin, Non-Exempt, Full-Time (35 Hours/Week) Salary: Grade A04, Step 01, \$20.40/Hour Schedule: Varies - Mon-Fri + Rotation of Saturdays Certifications/Licenses Required: High School diploma OR General Education Degree (GED) SUMMARY The City of Chicopee?s Public Library is hiring a Senior Library Associate who provides public services and programming for the Children\'s Department, under the direction of the Youth Services Coordinator, schedules, designs, and leads programming for children and teens. ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE: Provides public services and reference assistance to children and young adults. Develops and conducts or coordinates youth programming to include, but not limited to, story times, crafts, and paid performers. Serves as backup for other Youth Services staff for regularly scheduled programs. Assists with larger programs, whether library-run or paid programmers. Participates in the planning, publicity and implementation of larger initiatives like the Summer Reading Program and School Outreach. Provides information literacy instruction and assists with homework help. Assists in promoting library services by participating in school and community group tours. Participates in creating publicity and flyers to promote events. Participates in collection development for youth collections. Participates in grant seeking and implementation. Provides monthly statistics as needed. Assists in collection maintenance as needed. Assists at other public service desks as needed. Performs related work as required. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor\'s Degree with three (3) years high performance library experience or demonstrated experience with youth programming and public services. - Preferred Thorough knowledge of CW MARS ILS (Evergreen) and library and consortium policies and procedures. Comprehensive computer skills including all office programs and software applications supportive of office administration and library presentations and applications, such as Excel, Word, Publisher, Google Docs, and Canva. Thorough knowledge of information literacy instruction and database usage Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, subordinates, officials of other agencies, and the general public Organizational ability and strong public service orientation. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize, and adapt to changing needs and technologies. Good typing and telephone skills. High School diploma OR General Education Degree (GED).
