Shriver Job Corps is a training facility located in Devens, MA that serves underprivileged youths from ages 16 - 24. Students can join the following trades: Automotive, Carpentry, Cement Masonry, Computer Technician A+, Computer technician network+, Culinary, Nurse Assistant/Home Health, Office Administration, Painting, Advanced Computer System Administration, and Advanced Transportation.
This is a Mon - Fri, 7am - 4pm position with some on call responsibilities.The pay rate is $21.06/hr.Performs duties concerned with the care of the sick and injured, prevention of illness, and promotion of good health, in compliance with government and management directives.Essential Functions:1. Render first aid treatment and assist health care providers (HCP) in treating serious accidents or illness.2. Treat minor injuries and illnesses according to HCP orders and maintain student health records.3. Clean and dress wounds, operate emergency equipment and provide follow-up nursing care as required.4. Prepare and administer specified medications and drugs and assist in developing programs to prevent or control diseases and accidents.5. Assist in the management and coordination of pregnancy, weight control and smoking cessation programs.6. Direct students assigned to practicum/work experience in the center's health services facility.7. Monitor students restricted to the infirmary.8. Perform routine lab tests in accordance with approved standards.9. Triage, assess chief complaints, take vital signs, do appropriate charting and assist with chart review duties and with patient care.10. Assist health care provider when needed.11. Demonstrate appropriate professional behavior.12. Maintain clinic facilities in accordance with the highest standards of health care.13. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.14. Participate in student employability programs and activities.15. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.16. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.17. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.Education and Experience Requirements:Certification as a licensed practical nurse in the state of employment and one year of nursing experience. Experience working with youth, excellent written and verbal communication and computer proficiency also required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
