The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area After-school Unit Leader (Non-Exempt) in Dorchester, Massachusetts
The main function of the After-school Unit Leader is to assist and participate in the day-to-day operations of the Kids F.E.A.S.T. (Food, Enrichment, Arts, Spiritual Development, Teaching) After-School program.
Keep all areas where Kids F.E.A.S.T participants are located in an organized and clean manner.
Ensure that events and activities begin and end on time.
Ensure participant safety. Assist and direct program participants in moving about the facility to avoid crowded conditions and maximize service efficiency.
Assist children with self-care (assisting children in the restrooms) as required.
Assist with meal service and/or serve as table parent during meals.
Lead youth through active and supportive guidance and creative activities.
Write and submit curriculum for unit groups.
Assist with planning activities for unit groups or general program.
Attend all scheduled staff meetings and management team meetings as required.
Assist with daily reports for the program.
See that all injuries for those under your program whether employee, volunteer, visitor, or spectator report all injuries in a timely manner and according to procedure.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED
At least one year of experience working with youth of elementary or middle school age in a school, after-school program or camp environment.
Must have or be able to acquire within the first 30 days of employment a First Aid & CPR certification.
Must have the ability to work and relate well with people.
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
Must be available to work week nights.
Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
