The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area BTG Instructor in Dorchester, Massachusetts
Responsible for facilitating BTG Life Skills Discussions a minimum of 3 times per week. Advocate and case manage BTG students and their families in the Boston Juvenile Court (BJC) Sessions.
Provide outreach and develop a strong relationship with the Boston Juvenile Court contacts and area middle/high school contacts.
Maintain strong referral source with the Boston Juvenile Court and other community resources.
Track BJC students through their court process and provide documentation to appropriate court contacts as needed.
Work with schools to aid in the provision of services to current BTG students.
Track and support BTG students’ progress in school (i.e. grades, attendance).
Coordinate with other community services for current students and graduates as needed.
Maintain case notes and client files with up-to-date status and relationship information.
Communicate information concerning BTG students regularly with the BTG Staff in order to enhance the quality of service.
Co-facilitate a minimum of 3 BTG Life Skills group discussions per week with the BTG Director and other facilitators.
Recruit guest speakers and organize field trips to enhance the Life Skills Curriculum in conjunction with the BTG Staff.
Visit BTG students/graduates being held in D.Y.S. facilities as needed.
Responsible for continuous evaluation and development of the BTG Life Skills Discussion Groups Curriculum, in conjunction with the BTG Staff.
Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Work with the BTG Director, the Kroc Program & Development Manager and local Corps Officers to provide appropriate spiritual outreach to the youth served.
Provide monthly statistical reports and records to the BTG Director as requested/required.
Follow all safety policies provided by The Salvation Army regarding working with youth
B.A. in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Education or related field
A minimum of 1 year experience working with at-risk teens.
Experience facilitating small groups of teens.
Knowledge of Boston Juvenile Court processes, community resources and Boston area schools and education opportunities preferred.
Prior tutoring experience preferred.
Other QualificationsGood organizational skills. Classroom management skills. Strong community and professional networking skills are essential.
Compensation MinUSD $14.00/Hr.
