The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area Performing Arts Dance Instructor in Dorchester, Massachusetts
The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (RJKCC) is hiring a part-time (approximately six hours/week) Performing Arts Dance Instructor who is responsible for presenting a positive and competent image of the RJKCC through quality performing arts programs designed to meet the needs of the community.
High School or GED required
Bachelor’s degree preferred, in a performance arts or related field of study.
1 + years of experience teaching performance arts classes
Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within first 30 days of employment.
Must be able to work and relate well with people.
Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
Must be able to meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department as well as The Salvation Army.
Must be able to teach large and small groups of individuals of all ages.
Instruct with sound principles and expert skills in dance.
Teach dance classes to a diverse group of individuals and ability levels.
Create programs geared towards individual and group needs.
Provide individual goals and teaching for development in participants.
Critique and give feedback to participants regarding individual progress.
Maintain a safe working environment; Report all harmful problems with facilities to the proper supervisor.
Make sure that all classes begin and end on time.
Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
Assure music & other content selection adheres to the mission of the Salvation Army.
Recognize the spiritual need of individuals, which may require referral to the officer/pastor who is an ordained minister of religion.
Observe classes taught by other instructors to provide feedback and suggestions on how to improve quality of instruction.
Perform other related duties as directed.
