Bear Mountain Health Care Supervisor for the Housekeeping and Laundry Staff in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts

Job Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor will lead our team of housekeepers/laundry aides and ensure we provide excellent customer service. The Housekeeping Supervisor provides cleaning services to provide a safe, sanitary, comfortable and homelike environment for residents, staff and the public. He/She will ensure housekeeping services provided are maintained in accordance with facility policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations to maintain an environment that enhances the quality of life for residents. The Housekeeping Supervisor responsibilities include organizing employee shifts, training and motivating team members and checking private and public areas for tidiness.

Work Experience Requirements

· Prior experience in a nursing home environment with general housekeeping, floor care, heavy environmental cleaning.

  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs.

  • Freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace, and during work hours.

  • Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating Individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position.

  • Utilizes effective time management skills.

    Education/Experience :

  • 1 year prior supervisory experience preferred. Prior housekeeping experience in an institutional or Long Term, Care setting preferred

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: High School Graduate or GED

  • Language Skills: Must demonstrate the ability to read and write English

  • Mathematical Skills: Must demonstrate functional literacy.

  • Reasoning Ability: Must demonstrate functional literacy.

    · *Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction, leadership, and training to employees.

  • Tasks are manual labor intensive utilizing cleaning equipment, laundry equipment and/or a variety of machinery.

    · Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks.Applies knowledge of cleaning techniques and/or laundry operations and/or knowledge of standard practices and procedures.
