Description Works with the Lead Teacher in a team approach to Early Childhood Education, sharing in responsibility for planning and implementing classroom activities. Assumes the lead for classroom operation under the guidance of the Lead Teacher or during absence of the Lead Teacher. Requirements JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works as a team member to implement the classroom curriculum according to appropriate Early Childhood principles Supervises the children and implements daily lesson plans in all areas of the curriculum Gives input on weekly lesson planning and paperwork Leads small group activities, circle time activities, serves and eats lunch with children Assumes the lead role in the classroom during the Lead Teachers absence Completes all routine daily paperwork such as attendance, volunteer sheets, lunch, incident reports, etc. as requested by Lead Teacher Prepares materials to be used in the classroom (paint, art materials, etc.) Shares responsibility for childrens observations with Lead Teacher Participates in all Head Start meetings and trainings as required Implements recommendations from Lead Teacher and other management staff Assists with general center maintenance Follows Cape Cod Child Development Program?s procedure for reporting cases of suspected child abuse or neglect JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must maintain familiarity with the Performance Standards of Head Start Must have the ability and desire to work with low-income children and families, have an understanding of Early Childhood philosophy and the principles of mainstreaming children with special needs Must be able to work effectively with preschoolers and families and in a team-teaching atmosphere Must maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job Must exhibit good judgment and be organized, flexible and professional Must be able to work with others in a warm, non-judgmental manner, and be a positive role model to children, parents, volunteers and other staff Must have good communication skills and be able to follow oral and written directions Must be able to lift forty (40) pounds MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 21 years of age and have a HS diploma or equivalent. Must be Preschool Teacher Certified from the Department of Early Education and Care. Must have six (6) months of experience teaching preschool children. Must have a Child Development Associate Credential and be enrolled in an Associates Degree Program in Early Childhood to be completed within two (2) years of date of hire, or An Associates Degree in Early Childhood or an Associates Degree in a related field with six (6) courses in early childhood or enrolled in classes to be completed within two (2) years of date of hire. Must have current CPR/First Aid Certification All educators must demonstrate and maintain at all times physical, mental and emotional ability to care for the children for whom they are responsible in a way that meets the generally accepted physical, social, emotional and intellectual need of children. Educators must follow good personal hygiene at all times. Other duties and responsibilities reasonably related to the job title will be assigned. Apply
