State of Massachusetts Assistant Director for Student Development in Fitchburg, Massachusetts

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:To create and maintain a cultural, social, and academic environment to facilitate the growth and development of the individual student by offering a range of operational services and facilitating the Leadership Development Program. The Assistant Director of Student Development will be part of the Student Development team that offers programs and services for the students at Fitchburg State University. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Student Employment, Graduate Assistant DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Campus Center Operations 1. Manage all aspects of the Hammond Campus Center including but, not limited to, hours of operation, work orders, inventory, student employees, payroll, Information Desk, Game Room, Falcon Hub, event services staff and building managers; 2. Supervise Graduate Assistant (GA) to support Campus Center Operations; 3. Work with facilities regarding Campus Center maintenance and repair needs within the building; 4. Recruit, select, supervise and train all student employment, including building managers and orientation leaders; 5. Collaborate with other offices on campus and support special projects that take place within the Campus Center; 6. Assist with the scheduling and coordination of meetings/events/programs for student clubs and organizations; 7. Oversee student events, including, but not limited to, logistics, set-ups, and audio visual within the Campus Center; 8. Maintain, manage, repair, and replace equipment (i.e. Game Room supplies, ticketing equipment, Falcon Hub equipment, etc.); 9. Monitor all Campus Center expenditures, including equipment budget, income and expenses, and student payroll; Leadership Development 1. Develop and manage all aspects of a co-curricular leadership development program for the Fitchburg State University community that is rooted in theory, diversity, equity, and inclusion; 2. Oversee the Office of Student Development awards ceremony; Orientation 1. Assist with the recruitment, selection, training, and management of Orientation Leaders; 2. Support summer, fall, winter, and on-line orientation; General 1. Assist in developing plans, policies, and procedures in the Student Development Office; 2. Collaborate with the Student Development team to offer campus wide events (i.e. Orientation, Rock the Block, Lighting of the Campus etc.); 3. Serve on campus wide committees and act as a liaison to the Office of Student Development; 4. Support event coverage when necessary, including evenings and weekends; 5. Master’s degree in student personnel or related field preferred, or significant relevant professional experience; 2. Knowledge of student development and operation practices and procedures; 3. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. 4. Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion work and the ability to appropriately and effectively understand and adapt to cultural differences within a group environment. 5. Attention to detail and excellent time management skills; 6. Supervision experience preferred; 7. Ability to work effectively with a diverse customer base: including students, parents, FSU Employees, and outside vendors; 8. Computer skills and familiarity with various software programs and; 9. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI Check); a background check satisfactory to the university and must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 or have a documented and approved exemption. 10.
