Emergency COVID Response Classroom Supervisor The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Liaise with the teacher regarding work set in class. Facilitate remote teacher?s instructions to the class. Ensure that the work provided by the remote teacher is clearly distributed and monitored. Establish and maintain high expectations of students with regard to work and behavior. Provide a safe and calm environment for students to learn. Help and provide support for students in their learning during the remote teacher?s instruction. Be aware of students' needs. Assist in ensuring that all students are engaged and actively taking part in the lesson. Remain calm, efficient, and positive. Supervise students in the classroom as well as in other settings (i.e. lunch, recess, etc.). Ensure the health and safety of students in their care. Attend to the remote teacher?s in-school duties and responsibilities. Carry out other relevant duties as may reasonably be required by the remote teacher or building administrator. Deliver the highest quality of service to students and colleagues. Attend training sessions as required. Guide in person the learning process of the students. Assist the remote teacher with the employment of classroom strategies to facilitate instructional methods and materials as provided by the remote teacher. Implement all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom implements rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom. Track student attendance, collect student work, etc for the remote teacher. Reinforce a culture of achievement. Manage classroom logistics. Work with small groups to support their learning, as needed. Respond to any questions from students and provide support and guidance Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures. Be available for meetings with the remote teacher to assist in the area of instruction, classroom management, and discipline. Be aware of and support differences and ensure that students have equality of access to opportunities to learn, develop, and achieve. Facilitate ?hands-on? activities and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring. Maintain a clean and organized classroom. Additional responsibilities as assigned by building principal which may include: Monitoring hallways, classrooms, and other areas Lunchroom coverage Office coverage Covering classes (common planning time, IEP meetings, Team meetings) PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The employee must also often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books, school supplies, etc.).
