State of Massachusetts Full-Time Assistant Director, SOAR Program in Haverhill, Massachusetts

PLEASE APPLY VIA THE LINK BELOW: POSITION: Full-Time Assistant Director, SOAR Program: *Student Development; Assistant Director; Non-Unit Professional Position; 37.5 hours per week. This is a grant funded position currently funded. The SOAR program is a grant-funded, high impact cohort-based program that provides students with opportunities for academic success, career development, identity development, and leadership development. Reporting to the Director of SOAR, the Assistant Director: Academic Support has the primary responsibility for collaborating with the Director on designing, implementing, and evaluating program services and assuring the timely completion of program goals and objectives to increase the retention, graduation, and transfer rates of program participants. This position ensures program integration into the student experience through collaboration with other campus support services to encourage participants to utilize campus resources and services to the fullest. The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have the desire and ability to work with a diverse population. *REPONSIBILITIES: * Assists with management of the day to day operations of the program. * Assists with selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating Academic and Academic and Transfer Advisors, and Academic Fellows. * Assist with the coordination of the Academic Coaches schedules, workshops and caseloads. * Plans, organizes and coordinates implementation of the academic activities, services and operations of the SOAR Program. * Executes proactive outreach to faculty and the academic centers to create opportunities for collaboration and promotion of the SOAR program. * Provide information, assistance and guidance to current and prospective program participants regarding college programs, financial services, program intake processes, student support services, and advising processes such as course registration and transfer. * Implement a case management model to provide holistic support services to program participants. * Initiate the process of career and academic planning. * Process tasks associated with the advising process, reports, and other forms. * Maintain a computerized student contact tracking system on a database program with accurate and appropriate data to produce all reports in a timely manner. * Monitors progress towards program goals by reviewing data on retention, academic performance, degree audit, and transfer preparation on participants by the end of every semester. * Assist with development of a model to ensure continued expansion of the following areas: career advising, academic advising, transfer, tutoring and scholarships. * Represents the interest of the program on campus as warranted, advocating for the grant's targeted population. * Collaborates with other student affairs endeavors and maintains collaborative relationships with NECC faculty and staff. * Ensures the provision of high quality, customer-oriented service and support in services and processes. * Resolve participant challenges by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions to aid with persistence; escalating unresolved problems. * Maintains memberships and participates in appropriate professional organizations. * Serves on division and college-wide committees as requested. * Performs other duties as assigned. PLEASE APPLY VIA THE LINK BELOW: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Master's Degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Educational Administration or related discipline; * Minimum of three (3) years of full-time professional education and/or student services work including development, implementation and management of similar education programs; * Experience supervising professional staff * Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations including low-income, first generation and disabled students in need of academic assistance; * Demonstrated ability to develop and use data; * Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to present complex academic information to diverse audiences; PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Banner Student Information Systems experience preferred. * Experience working in community college. * Bilingual or Bicultural (Spanish and English). * Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse, population in a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
