POSITION:RF-Microwave Instructor;Center for Corporate and Community Education; Off-campus for Corporate Client; 26-week Contract Position (104 Hour class held 4 hours/week, one day per week) SALARY:$100/hour, Non-benefited position SCHEDULE:Current Schedule: Tuesday 2:30PM – 6:30PM ANTICIPATED START DATE:July 25, 2023 RESPONSIBILITIES: * Northern Essex Community College seeks to fill a part-time Technician RF/Microwave Instructor. The successful candidate will serve off campus at a Corporate Client in the Merrimack Valley. The Instructor will conduct class 4 hours (one day/week) or 8 hours (two days/week). Total class time is 104 hours with additional hours during the week as needed for class preparation. * Develop and teach classroom curriculum including: o Convert between linear power/voltage ratios and dB, and between absolute power/ voltage values and dBm or dBV o Determine the characteristics of sine waves, rectangular waves, and triangular waves from oscilloscope displays (e.g., period, wavelength, duty cycle, rise/fall times) o (Optional) Review elementary concepts of modulation o Calculate the overall noise figure of a receiver from noise generated by the input termination and internal noise sources o Understand basic wave propagation in free space and guided media (coaxial transmission lines, waveguides, and basic antennas) o Be familiar with, and specify applications for, the following RF/microwave circuit elements: amplifiers, attenuators, filters, mixers, directional/hybrid couplers, circulators/isolators, terminations, detectors, microwave electronic tubes and transistors o Use power meters, frequency counters, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, noise figure meters, time-domain reflectometers o Measurements of RF/microwave power, frequency, insertion gain/loss and phase/delay, return loss (SWR), S-parameters, harmonic/intermodulation distortion, noise figure, phase noise * Plan, coordinate, manage, and direct the classroom curriculum, skills lab, and learning environment for students, consulting with corporate client engineers who will conduct hands-on demonstrations of the RF/Microwave test equipment, and ensure and maintain a suitable learning environment for students. * Evaluate interpersonal skills, technical skills, and knowledge base of students in the classroom, skill lab, and clinical settings at regular intervals to measure student performance. * Maintain confidential, accurate, and complete records and reports as required by state standards. * Responsible for efficient and effective use of supplies and equipment. * Complete and submit course records and reports in a timely manner in compliance with applicable guidelines. *PLEASE NOTE, WE DO NOT REVIEW APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED THROUGH MASSCAREERS.
