(Non-Credit) CISCO Academy-Cyber Security Instructor for Mass Rehab Commission Posted: Jan 17, 2020 Closes: Feb 28, 2020 - 11:59 PM EST Type: PT No Benefits Job Description: Teaches to fulfill the objectives of a standardized CISCO training program for adults with disabilities, with a focus on Cyber Security, and the elements necessary to help students pass their certification exams in CCNA (3 levels), CCNP and CCNA Security. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President of Adult Education and Workforce Development. This program is created on behalf of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission for their clients. The Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) helps individuals with disabilities to live and work independently through vocational and occupational services. DUTIES: Prepares syllabus, assessments and activities; provides to Assistant Vice President in advance of each class for approval. Teaches assigned curriculum in accordance with course syllabus and assessments as scheduled. Ensures all classes start on time and as scheduled; notifies the Assistant Vice President at least 3 hours in advance when a situation occurs that could prevent class from starting on time. Assists in developing a curriculum that meets program needs. Incorporates actual workplace scenarios, case studies, procedures into the courses. Evaluates students' written assignments and exams. Computes grades for each student according to established policy. Assists with recruiting students and promotion of the program. Ability to set up CISCO lab to specifications of course; assists with maintenance of lab equipment; ensures all equipment and supplies are returned to storage and secured following each class. Completes required reporting and documentation. Is available for mentoring sessions and for mentoring individual students as needed. Must be able to commit to hours of courses as scheduled; must be able to handle both onsite courses at HCC and offsite at facilities in the community. Performs other duties as assigned by the Administration. Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a CISCO certification in CCNA with routing and switch portion of curricula, CCNP with routing and switch portion of curricula; CCNA Security; ability to effectively teach CISCO IT Essentials or another hands-on introductory computer science or Internet fundamentals course along with significant, verifiable teaching experience in CCNA, CCNP. Demonstrated experience in subject area and excellent teaching skills including using interactive and varied pedagogical strategies, with specific strategies for meeting the needs of students with disabilities; Associates degree; ability to integrate computer technology into instruction; effective presentation skills specifically in a technical manner; classroom teaching experience of 3 - 5 years in CCNA and/or CCNP. Knowledge and understanding of course content as well as knowledge of adult learning principles and principles of teaching adults with disabilities. Must be able to present instructional material clearly; candidate should have experience with adult learners in particular the areas of assessment, program design, delivery, and evaluation. Candidate should have workplace experience in training or educational capacity. The ability to connect with students, especially those of varying cultures, ethnicities and with physical, or limitations is essential. Demonstrated experience of teaching students with disabilities. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional CISCO or networking certifications and/or experience. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related subject area. Candidate should have a working knowledge or background in networking and/or have worked in a networking environment. All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
