Under the general direction of the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, the Dean of Health Sciences is responsible for divisional leadership that supports the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the College. Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and management of assigned instructional programs, services, budget, grant project, course scheduling. Provides leadership in curriculum, academic assessment and strategic planning. Responsible for leading the Division in data-informed decision-making and important initiatives that further equity and diversity, especially in an HSI-serving institution. Assists in identifying and seeking opportunities in College fundraising. Fosters collaborative working relationships with internal and external counterparts to communicate and coordinate initiatives that support College and instructional goals. Includes the following instructional programs: Foundations of Health (which houses Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assisting, Billing and Coding, and Community Health Worker programs); Veterinary Technology, Radiologic Technology, Nursing (ASN and PN), and Health, Fitness and Nutrition. Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and management of assigned instructional programs, services, operating budget, grant management, course scheduling and faculty workload. Exercises leadership in the development and evaluation of Division curricula, and ensures their quality in support of the development of new, and the management of, existing Associate Degree and Certificate Programs. Represents the Health Division and College in appropriate public and private forums. Provides leadership in developing collaborative initiatives within the workforce development and non-credit programs. Revitalizes existing, and creates new, educational training partnerships with the community. Promotes and develops articulation agreements with baccalaureate institutions and assists with the development of articulation agreements with area high schools. Provides leadership for faculty in designing and implementing a student learning outcomes assessment program. Supports faculty in the development of experiential learning opportunities. Works with faculty to introduce and use instructional technology tools and alternative instructional methodologies that enhance student learning. Monitors enrollment and graduation data and provides leadership to the Division on recruitment, marketing and retention issues. Monitors the instructional programs to ensure compliance with the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Ensures qualified faculty are hired for clinical experiences for CNA, Radiology and Nursing Programs. In coordination with the designated administrator for the ADN, PN, Veterinary Technology and Radiologic Technology Programs, prepares and submits accreditation and other required reports in an accurate and timely manner. Develops, coordinates and maintains cooperative relationships with area health care providers and staff of other external agencies. Responsible for off-site clinical contracts. Adheres to the MCCC/MTA and the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreements and College Policies related to them. Prepares agenda and chairs Division meetings. Serves as a member of the Academic Affairs Staff and other College committees and bodies. Serves as the designated Academic Affairs representative on one or more College Committees. Works with department chairs and the health records official in ensuring health records compliance and CORI/SORI review. Develops plans for ensuring safe on-campus labs during the pandemic Works with department chairs to develop alternative clinical assignments while ensuring accreditor approval during the pandemic.See Webs
