Holyoke Public Schools HPS Summer Academies - Enrichment Instru in Holyoke, Massachusetts

Through our 2020 HPS Summer Learning Academy program, it is our goal to provide every student with enrichment opportunities that engage them in learning, help them to discover their talents and develop their full potential. The enrichment instructor reporting to the Summer Learning Site Coordinator, Director and Manager of Enrichment & Extended Learning, will facilitate high quality, project-based, academic enrichment activities during within the afterschool program. The enrichment facilitator should be creative, engaging and flexible in their management of students. They should have a clear vision for their enrichment program and demonstrated talent or ability in a specific area of enrichment programming (i.e. STEM, health/wellness, arts, dance, service learning, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, etc.). The program will run July 7th-July 30th Mondays-Thursdays with tentative hours of 9am-3:00pm. Responsibilities will include: Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plan and implement interactive, project-based learning activities that engage students in multiple modalities of learning and interest of students. Submit plans for review and feedback. Create a safe and supportive learning environment that is appropriate to the maturity and interests of students and conducive to learning. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and ? in harmony with the goals ? establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Strive to implement by instruction and action the district?s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives. Consistently monitor and adjust based on feedback to better engage and meet the needs of students Guide the work of all non-certified staff in the classroom including youth development workers, paraprofessionals, and college mentors Other duties as assigned Requirements: Bachelors degree preferred Strong interest, training, and expertise in enrichment content Prior experience working with urban youth required Demonstrated ability to build relationships with youth and demonstrate cultural competence Compensation: Competitive, depending on the level of expertise and hour
