Lorusso Early Education Center, Cape Cod Regional Technical High School Early Education Center, North Falmouth Congregational Church Early Education Center, Falmouth Hospital Campus Early Education Center, Stony Brook Elementary School Early Education Center & Harwich Elementary School Early Education Center FULL-TIME, PART-TIME & SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS AVAILABLE Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day management of the classroom in accordance with the purpose, policies, & mission. Essential Functions: Develop, plan & implement curriculum with specific attention given to age-appropriate activities & developmental learning. Provide a warm, nurturing environment where all children can grow physically, emotionally, socially, & intellectually. Interact, initiate, & encourage children to engage in daily activities. Coordinate Assistant Teacher activities & encourage participation in the development of classroom curriculum. Maintain children?s records on attendance, daily activities & social development. Establish & maintain a safe, healthy environment. Responsible for the general upkeep, cleanliness, & organization of the classroom & related areas, such as kitchen, storage room, etc. Prepare evaluations of the child?s development for daily parent reports & parent conferences. Keep written journal/records for all children. Meet with parents to review evaluations. Assures compliance with state & local regulations as they relate to program area. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met & safety procedures followed. Maintains required certifications. Attend monthly staff meetings. Participate in staff professional development activities: complete a minimum of (1) five hours of professional development activities per year if working fewer than ten hours per week, or (2) twelve hours of professional development activities per year if working at least ten but fewer than twenty hours per week, or (3) twenty hours of professional development activities if working twenty hours or more per week. At least one-third of the required professional development must address diverse learners. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations & procedures, including emergency & safety procedures. Complete reports as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must meet Massachusetts Department of Early Education & Care (EEC) requirements for Teacher: Must be 21 years of age or have a high school diploma or equivalent & meet one of the following sets of requirements: 1) have successfully completed three credits in category Child Growth & Development & have nine months of work experience or one practicum, or 2) have a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or 3) have graduated from a two-year high school vocational program in early childhood education, approved by the Department for both the education & experience requirements & have been evaluated & recommended by the program instructor. The following education may substitute for a portion of the required work experience: 1) an Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree in early childhood education or a related field of study may substitute for six months of the required experience, or 2) a Bachelor?s degree in an unrelated field of study may substitute for three months of the required experience, or 3) For infant-toddler teachers, one continuing education unit (ten hours of instruction) in category Infant & Toddler Development, Care & Program Planning may substitute for three months of work experience. To be qualified as a preschool teacher, three months of the required work experience must be in caregiving to preschool age children. To be qualified as an infant/toddler teacher, three months of required work experience must be in caregiving to infants/toddlers. Certifications: CPR & Basic First Aid.
