Grade 6 Classroom Teacher Lawrence Family Development Charter School is currently seeking for a highly skilled and motivated Grade 6 Classroom Teacher who is passionate about making a difference in students' lives. The classroom teacher is responsible for delivering the instructional program approved by the school and for carrying out all planning, supervision, and assessment of students in accord with the school's mission, policies and practices. Responsibilities: - Provide the instructional program for all students to reflect content and standards for the LFDCS standards and benchmarks and aligned with the Massachusetts Common Core. - Teach in a two-year looping organization. - Manage the organizational structure of the classroom to ensure sufficient instructional time, consistent discipline practices, and integration with the support and enrichment curriculum instruction. - Complete all required documentation of the teaching program and student progress including daily and weekly lesson plans aligned with standards and benchmarks; student portfolios and assessments to determine individual progress; attendance and other documentation as required by law or by school administration. - Use the learning management system Schoology, and grade recording system MMS to post lesson plans and resources, and input attendance and grades. - Supervise a paraprofessional, if assigned, by assigning relevant tasks and instructional responsibilities commensurate with experience and ability. - Communicate with parents to ensure a cooperative family partnership in accord with the school?s mission and to increase student achievement. - Support the dual language goals of the school. - Participate in and adopt school-based professional learning, innovations, and technology advances. - Invest in personal and professional development through ongoing training in accord with an approved professional development plan. - Attend all meetings and professional development requirements after school. Experience/Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education or appropriate content subject area/grade level - Massachusetts Highly qualified and/or appropriate Massachusetts license. - 3 years' experience preferred - Strong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority students - Experience teaching urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred - Commitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCS - Ability to work independently as a classroom leader and as a team member of the grade- level staff and school community - Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred We offer a competitive compensation package and comprehensive health benefits.
