Greater Lawrence Community Action Council Group Leader in Lawrence, Massachusetts

The Group Leader will be responsible for planning activities and setting up the classroom environment each day as well as overseeing and presenting activities appropriate for school-age or an assigned group of children.

Responsible for activity designs, supervision of children, daily attendance and provision of food.

Classroom activities involve; observing, talking, sitting, standing, walking, eating with the children ?family style?, supervising children in their acquisition of self-help skills (e.g. dressing, toileting, washing hands etc.)

Must have an awareness of the whereabouts of every child in his/her charge and assure the health and safety of the children at all times while at the center and off-site..

Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the classroom and designated space.

Will assist fellow educators in all responsibilities and be able to work as a positive team member.

Must demonstrate a professional attitude and be a positive role model for co-workers and children.

Must follow all guidelines and policies set forth by the GLCAC, Inc. Agency, Child Care Center, Department of Early Education and Care, NAEYC, QRIS and DCF. Must be able to ride the bus in a Bus Monitor Capacity as needed.

Other duties as assigned or determined by the program needs.

Must be at least 21 years of age and have an Associate?s Degree and three months of experience working with school age children or CDA, Child Development Credential and six months of experience working with school-age children including 3 months supervised experience at a school age child care program or nine months of experience working with school-age children, have completed a 3 credit ECE course and be willing to pursue higher education: CDA, AA, BA in Early Childhood Education plus meet current Early Education and Care and NAEYC regulations for position.

Must be reliable, a positive role model and a team player.

Must comprehend/communicate in English both verbally and in writing, and have basic computer literacy skills.

Must be able to work varied hours to cover the needs of the program and be a reliable and positive team player.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be physically able to lift/carry/assist young children and perform diaper changing duties when working in the centers other programs.

Must be able to participate in classroom housekeeping duties in all areas, able to use bleach/cleaning solutions for sanitization purposes, be capable of hearing and seeing the children to monitor their health and safety, meet the physical demands of an active learning environment which include, but are not limited to bending, standing for 30 minute intervals and ability to get up and down.

Must be able to assist in all aspects of the program as needed including occasional Bus Monitor substitution.

Musts be able to work 52 weeks/year, 25 hours a week and 37.5 hours a week for the Summer & School vacation weeks.

Show documented proof of current physical exam, negative TB test, and proof of MMR immunity. (Hepatitis B immunity is advisable).

Must have a suitable CORI, SORI & DCF background check on file prior to employment.
