Science Teacher Lawrence Family Development Charter School is anticipating the need for highly skilled and motivated Science teachers who are passionate about making a difference in students' lives. The Science Teacher will develop curriculum lessons, provide instruction to Upper School students, and participate in overall planning with other Science teachers and other teaching staff. RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan science lessons and post to Schoology each week. Teach the science lessons as planned. Assess and maintain data on student progress. Assist the STEM Coordinator in aligning the curriculum standards with the Massachusetts Common Core Standards. Work with STEM Coordinator and other Science teachers on partnerships (ex: NECC, UMass Lowell, Converse, the Museum of Science and MIT) Rarticipate in weekly Common Planning Time Meetings. Plan, prepare, and support students for Grade 7 Science Fair. Participate in the Response to Intervention meetings of grade 7 or 8. Participate in a minimum of 1 Science After-School activity each year (with stipend). EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree required MA teacher certification in Science 5-8 3 years' successful experience as classroom or Science teacher Demonstrated excellent communication skills (oral and written) Demonstrated interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills Proven ability to communicate well with adults and children Experience teaching urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred We offer a competitive compensation package and comprehensive health benefits.
