Wellforce Nurse Educator, Oncology, OCN in Lowell, Massachusetts
The Oncology Educator is an integral part of our Education team.
The Clinical Educator provides leadership, clinical practice expertise, education, program development, and consultation to promote clinical excellence. This Educator uses problem-solving strategies and the nursing process to improve outcomes and/or achieve program goals. This candidate also possess effective communication skills to develop positive working relationships. This Educator works collaboratively with management and other leadership to develop criteria for patient care, assess health needs of patients, and evaluate nursing interventions to achieve optimal nursing practices outcomes. This Educator facilitates problem-solving and decision-making to influence the development, implementation and evaluation of patient, unit, department and organizational goals and serves as a clinical expert in area of practice and role models this to hospital personnel and medical staff.
Provides real time problem-solving to promote critical thinking skills
Demonstrates proficient educational/teaching skills in the use of the teaching/learning process
Coordinates the development of appropriate materials to facilitate the education of staff
Plans, develops, presents, and evaluates educational programs independently and in collaboration with the education department, department managers and Cancer Center.
Develops, implements and evaluates new and experience preceptor training
Works collaboratively with cancer center providers to provide educational in-services both to staff and providers in regard to current treatment, protocols and Oncology Standards of Care.
Works collaboratively with the Oncology Hospitalist to coordinate in-patient oncology plan of care including chemotherapy administration, patient teaching and follow-up care in the outpatient setting.
Develops and implements education for the Oncology Unit and conducts orientation and competency for staff regarding chemotherapy administration.
Works with clinical manager, clinical leader and staff coordinator to assess the staffing needs of the unit as it relates to elective admissions and in-patients requiring chemotherapy in Oncology Care Unit or other in-patient units.
Work with cancer center social work, cancer center pharmacy and cancer center education navigator to coordinate admissions to the Oncology Care Unit.
This is a 32 hour, day position. Mon- Fri.
Education and Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, required - Master's Prepared RN with a focus in Nursing Education preferred - BLS-Healthcare provider, current - OCN required - Recent experience in hospital education and training, preferred - Proficiency computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and related computer applications - Excellent written and oral communications skills
