Location : Lynn Corps, 1 Franklin Street
Pay Range : $23 to $25.45 per hour depending upon qualifications and experience
The SmART Center Director (program administrator) shall be at least 21 years of age and meet one of the following sets of requirements:
Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology or Child Care, and have six months experience working with school age children; and have six months of administrative experience or have evidence of satisfactory completion of at least nine credits in management or administrative subject areas from an accredited institution of higher education; or
Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any field or an Associate’s Degree in any of the fields listed in 102 CMR 7.32 (2) (a) 1; and have eighteen months working with school age children; and have six months administrative experience or have evidence of satisfactory completion of at least nine credits in management or administrative subject areas from an accredited institution of higher education; or
Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have four years of experience working with children, two-thirds of which is with school age children and have one year of administrative experience or have evidence of satisfactory completion of at least nine credits in management or administrative subject areas from an accredited institution of higher education.
Have a minimum of six months (one year preferred) experience working with school age children.
Must have the ability and experience to write grants to raise money for The Salvation Army’s Kids’ Club program.
Must be able to plan, prepare and implement the day-to-day activities.
Responsible for assuring a high level of interest and enthusiasm when working with children.
Responsible for working with Corps Officer and other staff to assure the safety of the children enrolled in the program.
Ability to communicate all problems or concerns to the Corps Officer.
Direct an in-house after-school/ day camp program Monday - Friday for up to 39 children.
Promote, advertise, and post job posting for staff openings. Conduct Interviews (with CO’s) and recommend for hire all day care staff positions; provide orientation, training, Keep Safe training, supervision and evaluation of SmART Center program personnel.
Design program. Philosophy, development of policies, procedures, and evaluation of SmART Center program.
Delegate responsibilities to staff as needed.
Write and submit grants that would benefit the Salvation Army Kids’ Club Programs
Monitor the SmART Center budget and assist in the yearly revision.
Develop the funds necessary to operate the SmART Center program.
Handle all disciplinary action in a direct manner. Fill out all necessary forms, speak to parents, consult and inform C.O. of action taken.
Maintain parental communication and relations including outreach and enrollment.
Review and discuss discipline of staff with CO prior to meeting with staff member
Drive vehicles, as needed for trips, daily pick-ups, etc.
Conduct weekly staff meetings to review plans, guidelines, and any challenged faced.
Maintain attendance records, medical release forms and other paperwork for statistical and official purposes.
Conduct parental and child interviews. Enroll children and maintain current and accurate files on each child.
Develop a community outreach link; to promote the program and fill open slots.
Complete and submit on a timely basis, all state local and Salvation Army reports.
Develop volunteer programs, following Keep Safe guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all state and local licensing regulations.
Participate in First Aid, CPR and other required OCCS training. (Apply for a 7-D license)
Bill contract agencies (i.e., DSS/ CRCC/ Department of Education, etc.) remain informed about current childcare issues and act as an advocate for the SmART Center.
Supervise Site Coordinator, Group Leaders, and all volunteers.
Keep up with fees owed to The Salvation Army to avoid excessive debts.
Encourage participation by the children in Corps programs
Build bridges between SmART Center and Corps programs and Sunday Worship.
Coordinate with Corps Officer/Youth Director for opportunities to integrate programs with Corps programming
Work closely with office and support staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Represent The Salvation Army's spiritual ministry and social mission in the SmART Center.
Engage in Christian conversation if opportunity of need arises
Pray with an individual within his/her sphere of influence when opportunity or need arise or refer the individual to The Salvation Army Corps Officer
