State of Massachusetts Contracted Program Coordinator - Accelerating Math Instruction for Students in Malden, Massachusetts

AS A STATE CONTRACTED EMPLOYEE, YOU MUST PARTICIPATE IN DIRECT DEPOSIT AND CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS STATE ALTERNATE RETIREMENT PLAN, ("OBRA PLAN"). * The Office for STEM in the Center for Instructional Support at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is committed to the vision that all Massachusetts students will have an equitable comprehensive STEM education that fosters a positive STEM identity and enables them to apply their learning to thrive in their everyday lives and participate in informed civic engagement. The Office provides leadership for the development and supporting the implementation of the Curriculum Frameworks in Mathematics, Science and Technology/Engineering, and Digital Literacy and Computer Science. The Office also supports districts’ development of STEM programs that center equity and embody rigorous and culturally relevant curriculum and instruction aligned to these Frameworks. The Office is also responsible for designing STEM resources and providing professional development in these topics. In addition, it links STEM initiatives to other initiatives at DESE. *Contract focus: Coordination of Accelerating Math Instruction for Students Vendors * Thecontract employeewill support the coordination and monitoring of the scopes of work outlined on the Accelerating Math Instruction for Students webpage,and other related projects as needed based upon funding. *Description of Duties / Essential Functions * 1.Coordinate and monitor the contracts with selected vendors who provide: * Digital Conceptual Mathematics Program contract Summer Intensive * Programming and Schoolyear High-Quality Instruction Materials Supports Schoolyear * Programs with Targeted Acceleration and High-Quality Instruction Materials Supports * Program evaluation Including: * Develop and implement procedures for coordination and monitoring of the overall project. * Coordinate with vendors to publicize the available resources and programs to LEAs, * Monitor and support the vendors as they coordinate with LEAs, * Coordinate with the contracted 3rd party program evaluator, including communication with the vendors. * Coordinate support with participating LEAs and provide assistance as they select, purchase, and implement the resources and program. * Maintain excellent working relationships with participating LEA and vendor staff * Assist with general administrative duties and communications with participating LEAs such as data-entering information, maintaining file systems, drafting correspondence, and responding to e-mail and voice mail inquiries. 2. Additional projects as needed. Additional projects are not anticipated at this time, but may be added depending on the needs of the agency. Additional hours may be negotiated. Perform related duties as required. *Preferred qualifications: * * Demonstrated commitment in working towards racial equity in education * Familiarity with student information systems * Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint, Google Products, Zoom *Work schedule: * * Maximum Hours: 477 hours * Hours per week will vary based on project phase. The majority of work is concentrated between June and August of 2021 (up to 14 hours per week). Work continues from September to the end of June 2022 at a reduced pace (up to 5 hours per week). * Days of week: flexible based upon contractor preference. Meetings will be scheduled in consultation between the vendor(s) and DESE and will be conducted over ZOOM or Teams. * Location: Telework. Reporting to work in person will not be required for this position, however there will be instances where it will be required to easily travel to the Malden office. Questions regarding this posting or the application process should be referred to Maureen O’Brien at Maureen.t.o’brien@mass.gov. *Minimum qualifications required at hire: • Applicants must have at least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, teaching, administration, or coordination experience in a school or district setting • Administrative or program coordination experience, program planning and/or program analysis, • Excellent organizational and communication skills • Absence of direct or indirect financial interest in any vendors that may apply for the related bid opportunities • Experience and fluency with Microsoft Office Products (including Excel).
