Job Description

The Parent Child Educator is responsible for leading a parent/child playgroup, a parent discussion group or parent support group. The responsibilities include:

Position Summary:

  1. Plans and develop age-appropriate curriculum in conjunction with the Program Supervisor and other educators.

  2. Leads discussion addressing parenting issues and concerns. Shares handouts with parents on child development, parenting issues or other articles of interest supplied by Program Supervisor.

  3. References and researches resources and services available for families. Keeps track of any referrals made for monthly reports to Department of Early Education and Care.

  4. Acts as an advocate for MelroseWakefield Healthcare and all NSCFRN programs.

  5. Organizes curriculum supplies, cleans class spaces, washes toys after parent/child group.

  6. Receives a minimum of 6 hours of professional development per year by attending education workshops or conferences. A copy of Certificate of Attendance will be maintained on file.

  7. Maintains current First Aid and CPR certificate on file with Program Supervisor.

  8. Attends the majority of 10-12 monthly staff meetings.

  9. Performs other duties that might be assigned by Program Supervisor.

Works closely with other staff in a collaborative team environment. Interactions made include working with all MelroseWakefield Healthcare staff, Wakefield Public Schools CFCE Program Director other outside vendors and members of the community.

Qualifications

College Degree Preferred in Early Childhood Education or similar experience.

At least 1 year experience working with young children.

Ability to organize activities, supervise children and interact with adults.
