State of Massachusetts Industrial Instructor II - Electrician - Where Assigned Northern Sector in Milford, Massachusetts

Duties: The selected candidate will have to successfully pass a psychological and drug screen and must attend a four (4) week Recruit Academy. These positions will be assigned to facilities throughout Northern Sector of the Department of Correction to include Shirley, Framingham, Concord, and Gardner. * Responsible for performing repairs and renovations to the electrical system throughout the facility; ordering materials needed for repairs or projects; supervision of staff and inmates and ensures that assignments are understood and carried out properly; ensures that all projects meet applicable code constraints; ensures that deadlines are met. Assist with carpentry, welding, landscaping, and snow removal. Performs other duties as assigned. *Preferred Qualifications: MUST have possession of a valid Massachusetts Journeymen Electrical License, thorough knowledge of electrical codes, procedures, and safety practice. The selected candidate will have to successfully pass a psychological and drug screen and must attend a four (4) week Recruit Academy. Comments: This is a Civil Service position. Candidate must take and pass the next Civil Service Examination for this title and score must be reached in order to be considered for a permanent appointment. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement.The DOC urges bilingual applicants to apply. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in industrial arts work, the major duties of which involved training or instructing, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in industrial arts may be substituted for the required experience.* Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
