State of Massachusetts PM VI/Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Milford, Massachusetts
The mission of the Education Division is to prepare offenders for successful reentry by providing a comprehensive academic and vocational program continuum which is responsive to the individual risk and need of each offender. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will assist the Superintendent of Schools with overseeing all educational programming that are administered in all state facilities by ninety academic, vocational, and technology education staff. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will support successful reentry by ensuring high quality educational programming and alignment to community standards. Additional responsibilities of the position include overseeing staff and projects pertaining to curriculum development, instructional strategies, and formative and summative assessments. Director of Curriculum and Instruction will oversee the school improvement plan process and ensure plans are being implemented and continuously reviewed. The purchasing of educational materials including the adoption of curricula and standardized assessments will be overseen by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will assist the Superintendent of Schools with grant and fiscal management for the ABE Grant. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will assist the Superintendent of Schools with directing staff on DOC and DESE policies and the direct supervision of the HiSet Chief Examiner to ensure fidelity to testing protocols. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will receive general direction from the Superintendent of Schools to assist in identification of agency goals and priorities. Performs other duties as assigned.
Current licensure from the DESE in education administration. Master’s degree in Education. Ten (10) years of experience in teaching and/or administration that includes at least five (5) years of classroom teaching. Five (5) years of experience in education leadership. Five (5) years of supervisory experience including experience as a building administrator or central office administrator. Experience with curriculum development, adherence to DESE policies, and use of formative and summative assessments to inform instructional practices. Experience with school improvement planning. Experience with supervision and evaluation as per DESE teacher evaluation standards.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience.
II. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.
III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience.
IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required (A) experience.
