Bristol Community College Basic Technical Trainer in New Bedford, Massachusetts

STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Instructors for the National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI) are individuals with diverse skillsets committed to a safe training environment. Basic Technical Training Instructors will focus on teaching in course content areas, such as, but not limited to: Electrical, Hydraulic and Mechanical systems. Please note that Basic Technical Training Instructors will be trained to required industry standards upon appointment, which may include out-of-state training for an extended period of time. Continuation of employment is contingent upon successful completion of the training. As a condition of employment, the incumbent who successfully completes the training program shall enter into a written commitment indicating that they shall return to the service of the College for a minimum of 24 months from the date of training completion. Courses may be offered in online, hybrid, or face-to-face modalities at the NOWI. Courses may be held during the day, in the evening, and on weekends, but typically are held during weekday business hours from 7:00 AM - 6:00PM. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems and installation and/or experience working with fiberglass/composite materials. Must pass an approved physical evaluation, which may include but is not limited to meeting and maintaining specific weight requirements of tower ladders under OSHA and/or industry standards of 250 to 300 lbs. max, including personal protective equipment (approx. 30-35lbs). Must be comfortable working in confined space(s), at height, and in an aquatic environment. Demonstrated experience as an instructor/trainer/manager in specified area of content. Demonstrated proficiency with technology, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office 365 applications and virtual meeting technology (e.g., Zoom, Teams, and/or GoToMeeting). Strong communication, presentation, and public speaking skills, using technology as a mode of presentation. May be required to work occasional nights and/or weekends as business needs dictate. The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff. COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: As of January 2022, candidates for employment should be aware that Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated. Accordingly, initial employment is dependent upon receipt and verification of full vaccination status records; details of how to fulfill vaccine record verification requirements will be provided during the hire and onboarding process. The National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI) is looking for Basic Technical Training Instructors. These Instructors will focus on teaching content areas such as electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems, with a focus on how to maintain a safe working environment. Veterans have a wealth of experience in technical fields such as mechanics and electronics. The NOWI will provide hired candidates with the required training to meet industry standards.
