Jewish Community Center Head Counselor in Newton, Massachusetts

Principal Responsibilities:

Camp Kaleidoscope, the creative arts and science camp at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton, seeks a Head Counselor for summer 2018. Responsibilities include supervision and support of teachers (in art, theater, science, music, dance, etc.) and college-aged counselors and interns; and assisting the director in daily camp management. In addition, the Head Counselor will teach several classes daily - in Sports and Games, Science, Drama or other discipline.

Parents on staff send their children to camp for free.

Camp season is June 25-August 17, with orientation and training the week before. Hours are 8:30am-6:00pm unless otherwise arranged, plus Arts Nights and Late Nights as scheduled.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelors degree and three or more years of teaching and/or camp experience. Special needs experience, counseling and/or student teacher supervision a plus. Parents are especially encouraged to apply.
