Jewish Community Center Jewish Song Leader and Music Teacher in Newton, Massachusetts
Warm, knowledgeable, fun music teacher needed to lead music activities with campers entering grades K-8. Teach classes for 12-15 campers in grades K-3 which may include singing games, rhythm games, writing songs, and/or moving to music. MC daily camper performances and lead all-camp singalongs, including Jewish and secular songs and games. Choose, rehearse and accompany songs for Arts Night performances. Lead short weekly Shabbat celebrations.
Full-time staff send their children to camp for free.
Camp Kaleidoscope is a coed Jewish day camp open to all. We specialize in theater, music, art, and science, with a healthy dose of outdoor activities and swimming. The Song Leader is the HEART of camp!
Must have a degree in music or education, knowledge of Jewish music, and at least 3 years experience teaching young children. Must know how to have FUN with children as well as have excellent classroom management skills. Must be comfortable leading the whole camp in songs and large-group activities. Candidate must be available for the full 8-week session, June 25-August 17, with orientation the previous week. Hours are 8:45am-4:10pm, Monday through Friday, weekly Monday staff meetings until 5:15pm, and Arts Nights on July 18 and August 15.
