Job Description

Our vision is to create a world class Product Strategy and Execution organization that leverages today’s platforms, technologies, and creative thinking to drive revenue growth and secure SVB’s image as the most sought after global financial partner for the innovation economy.

The Product Training & Communications Team fosters this vision through our mission to drive awareness and understanding of SVB’s products, services, and channels. This will be done through designing the most effective content in line with best in class, client-focused best practices through understanding changes in Product and determining the appropriate change strategy for the change, writing the appropriate copy, and designing content to create the best user experience.

This role will be responsible for working with subject matter experts to determine the design for training and enablement experiences. Whether the requirement is an instructor-led virtual training, a one-hour e-learning module, or a single-page job aid, the Instructional Designer (ID) needs to have the skill set to transform raw source content (often an Excel worksheet, Word document or PowerPoint slides) into a meaningful and effective training solution. The output of an ID’s work varies depending on the type of training experience they are creating. If they’re designing an e-learning course, the output will likely be a storyboard for review with stakeholders and, depending on complexity, they may pass along to a developer to create the content. On the other hand, if the ID is designing a classroom-based training activity or a simple job aid, they might develop those training materials themselves and then pass them on directly to the trainer for delivery.

In this role, you will:

  • Work directly with a Change Manager to understand stakeholder impact and goals of learning

  • Meet with identified stakeholders who are impacted by the change to create an in-depth impact analysis by role

  • Analyze and prioritize needs by stakeholder groups, which clearly states each specific goals and objectives that will be accomplished through the learning design.

  • Create engaging content that meets the learning goals and objectives through designing user experiences for a variety of delivery channels: eLearning, blended learning, game-based learning, instructor-led learning and performance response tools

  • Establish and administer best practice user experience policies for delivering curriculum to SVBers focused on the loan onboarding tools.

  • Apply agile development methodologies to maintain a constant stream of iterative enablement resources that evolve with the needs of impacted teams.

  • Establish and maintain project timelines

  • Build and maintain valued relationships with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, colleagues and external vendors (where necessary)

Key skill/ability required in this role:

You should be familiar with adult learning principles, learning theories, and instructional methodologies and models, such as ADDIE, SAM, and Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Evaluation. Since there’s a lot of writing involved in creating training materials, you should also strive to be a clear and effective writer. You also need to be analytical, logical, organized, and creative to design courses that present the key messages in a way that makes sense and engages the learners.
