State of Massachusetts Industrial Instructor I - Floater/Assistant/Delivery in Norfolk, Massachusetts

Duties: Responsible for production planning, work assignments, quality, safety, machine operation, security, tool control, instruction, training of offenders and general economic operation of assigned shop while under the guidance of Industries managers. Check all offenders in and account for their presence at all time that they are in the care of MassCor Industries. Maintain tool control from a lockable tool crib, as well as control designated hazardous materials with a sign out system & permanent log to ACA Standards. Adhere to DOC policies and Commonwealth MGL regulations. Stock raw materials, tooling and consumables needed as well as submitting requisitions in time to meet production needs. Maintain security and perform required security checks on a regular basis. Set schedules, perform and record preventive maintenance servicing and inspections on all equipment; tooling and Contact customers regarding orders and new items. Coordinate with the Institution to insure that EPA, DEQE, OSHA, & ACA standards are met. Provide support to MassCor Transportation Department in the capacity of delivery/driver as required. Ability to operate fork truck, pallet movers and able to do heavy lifting and moving as required. Maintain custodial care and control of offenders while assisting in the promotion of their rehabilitation adjustment. Load trucks with the assistance of inmates under his/her direction while insuring that all items are properly secured and protected for shipment to prevent damage. The ability to perform warehouse tasks of moving, storing and assembling items for storage or shipment. Pick up and deliver from Institutions, customer site or manufacturers all products and/or commodities as required. Perform other duties as required. Preferred Qualifications: Must possess a high degree of technical/business versatility. Must also be able to deal with the unique issues of training and motivating inmates while maintaining security at all time. CDL License Class A/B preferred but not required. Good safety record with above average knowledge of safety procedures and precautions. The ability to follow maps and managers instructions. Experience with New England area especially Boston and vicinity. Experience with pick up and delivery of medium to heavy furniture or similar items. Able to do heavy lifting and moving. Ability to supervise inmates of installation procedures. Familiar with fork trucks, pallet movers and furniture/appliance dollies and carts. Interact with customers on delivery schedules and shop managers; Familiar with warehouse procedures and ability to deal with people in an efficient, courteous manner. Comments: This is a Civil Service position. Please note candidate must take and pass the next Civil Service examination for this title, and scored must be reached in order to be considered for a permanent appointment.
